A child named Trisha (9) of Basail in Tangail died two days after being taken to hospital after being rescued from the ceiling fan of a house with a scarf wrapped around her neck.

The incident took place at Bhatpara village of the upazila on Thursday (May 26) afternoon. He later died on Saturday (May 26) at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.

Youngest daughter of Abu Bhuiyan of Bhatpara village in Trisha upazila. She is a second class student of Basail Shaheed Cadet School. An unnatural death case was filed at Basail police station on Sunday.

According to family sources, Trisha’s mother came home from school with her eldest son at 5 pm on Thursday, May 26 and saw her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan of Trisha’s house with a scarf around her neck. Struggling to survive.

As there were no people in the house at that time, Trisha’s mother and brother rescued her from her hanging condition and rushed her to Basail Upazila Health Complex. After being taken there, the doctors sent him to Tangail General Hospital as his condition was critical.

Doctors then sent him to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital for better treatment as his condition became more critical. After being hospitalized for two days in a row, he died of thirst at 4:30 pm on Saturday.

According to the family, there are signs of injuries on the body of the child. After various physical tortures, the miscreants fled with the ceiling fan wrapped around his neck with the intention of killing him in a premeditated manner. He demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the incident and exemplary punishment and trial.

In this regard, Basail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said that the body of the child was recovered last Saturday and sent to Tangail Jenner Hospital for autopsy. An unnatural death case has been filed in this incident. The next step will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
