Shipon Akhter, 45, a housewife, has confessed to killing her neighbor by cutting her throat in her bedroom to trap her neighbor over land in Kalai, Joypurhat. After police brought several people, including the housewife’s husband and children, to the police station for preliminary interrogation on suspicion, the father and son gave a shocking account of the murder and the others were released. However, the father and son were produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Atiqur Rahman on Sunday afternoon to record a confessional statement about the murder under section 164. Such information has been confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalai Police Station SM Moinuddin.
Shahjahan Ali, brother of the slain housewife, has filed a murder case against the father and son.
The deceased were identified as Tozam Hossain Sarkar, 52, son of late Alek Uddin Sarkar of Dudhail-Nayapara village in Kalai upazila and Shihab Uddin, 20, eldest son of the housewife. After the incident on Saturday morning, the police brought several people including them to the police station to know the main secret of the murder. Just as a snake comes out in search of a ketchup, so does a housewife murder come out of the mouth of a father and son.
The incident took place at Dudhail-Nayara village on Friday night. Police recovered the body on Saturday morning. The father and son first complained that the housewife was slaughtered and killed by the miscreants due to previous enmity. Several teams of police including CID and DB came to the field to look for clues in their murder.
Talking to the housewife’s relatives, neighbors and the police, it is learned that 7/8 years ago, Tozam Hossain Sarkar, the husband of the slain housewife, bought 10 percent of the land from Ahsan, son of the neighbor Aynal Haque. The land has not been deeded since then. At present, due to the increase in the price of land, if the seller refuses to deed the land, there is a quarrel between them for several days. Her husband and children plan to kill the housewife to rescue the land and teach several others, including neighbors. As usual, housewife Shipon Akhter left her door open after dinner on Friday night and slept in her bedroom with her 7-year-old son Tuhin. According to the plan, the eldest son Shihab and his father slept in another room. At some point in the night, the father and son entered the housewife’s room, slaughtered her with a knife and left her body on the floor of the house. After informing the police, they recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Joypurhat District Modern Hospital for autopsy.
However, since the murder, the neighbors have been alleging that the father and son may have carried out the murder by trapping innocent people. So they requested the administration to interrogate the housewife’s husband Tozam Hossain Sarkar and son Shihab separately. That is why the main secret of the murder came out easily.
Shahjahan Ali, the brother of the deceased and the plaintiff in the case, said that the whole family was suspicious of them from the very beginning. The boy was as clever as the father. The murder took place when the father and son were involved in a land grab by the neighbors. I demand severe punishment for both of them.
Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Moinuddi said that they had admitted in the police interrogation that the father and son had killed the housewife together. The Chief Judicial Magistrate has been produced in the court on Sunday afternoon to record their confessional statement under section 164.
