Ten families living in the Sonapur shelter of Bagjana union in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district have been affected by the fire. The fire consumed everything including furniture, rice, pulses and cash of the families’ houses. The fire started at around 8.30 am on Sunday due to an electrical short circuit. Healy and Panchbibi’s fire service personnel came and brought the fire under control.
The victims Jamirul Islam and Sharif Uddin said, “I go to work in the morning like every day.” Everything in our ten rooms was reduced to ashes by a fire caused by an electric wire. We have nothing but reading clothes.
Meanwhile, Hon’ble Member of Parliament for Joypurhat-1 constituency and Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs Joypurhat Panchbibi Rupkar Alhaj Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu MP said that he did not worry about his condition while he was in physical treatment in India. In this context, the matter of the families affected by the fire came to his notice and he immediately visited the spot at his direction.
Leaders of various local Awami League organizations were present at the time.
