The formation of the managing committee of Gorai Peer Peeria Dakhil Madrasa under Ulipur upazila of Kurigram has raised fears of clashes. Extreme dissatisfaction is prevailing among the teachers-students and parents of the madrasa in this incident.
It is learned that the founder of Gorai Peer Peeria Dakhil Madrasa under Ulipur Upazila, President of Ulipur Municipal Awami League Md. Jahangir Alam and his family members. The madrasa was established in the name of Jahangir Alam’s mother. Since the establishment of the madrasa, the development work of the madrasa has been severely hampered due to some vested interests. Kawasta has been embezzling funds allocated for development projects in the name of Madrasa, starting from the land of Madrasa, under the leadership of a Mahal Madrasa Managing Committee. Due to the conscious people of the area, the name of Md. Jahangir Alam was recently proposed as the chairman of the managing committee of the madrasa and the preliminary draft of the committee was sent to various departments. The money laundering ring, which has been allocating funds for the development of the madrasa for a long time, has lodged a false complaint with the education department to block the approval of a committee named after Md Jahangir Alam, chairman of the desired managing committee of the locals. The Ulipur Upazila Animal Resources Officer investigated the matter at the Gorai Peer Peeria Dakhil Madrasa on Monday afternoon and took the testimony of the members of the managing committee. The locals claim that the founder of the madrasa Md. Jahangir Alam and his family. For this reason, Jahangir Alam has the highest priority and demand for the post of president. Madrasa will be developed through him. The people of the area have collectively supported Jahangir Alam in the interest of development. In this regard, Chairman of Thetrai Union Parishad Md. Ataur Rahman Ata said that the founder of Gorai Peer Peeria Dakhil Madrasa is Jahangir Alam and his family members. Locals have supported Jahangir Alam on humanitarian grounds. I also support Jahangir Alam in the interest of development. In this regard, Ulipur Municipal Awami League President Jahangir Alam said, Gorai Peer Peeria Dakhil Madrasa has been established in the name of my mother. For a long time, selfish quarters have benefited without developing the madrasa. This time I want to develop the madrasa and transform the madrasa established in my mother’s name into a model madrasa.
