Farhana Akhter, Joypurhat Correspondent:

Detective police have arrested two more members of a gang of brokers who were forced to sell their kidneys to needy and indebted people by showing them large sums of money. The brokers from Kalai upazila of Joypurhat were arrested from different places in Dhaka. Superintendent of Police Mashum Ahmed Bhuiyan confirmed the information at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrested are Abdul Goffar Sarkar, 45, son of late Belayet Hossain Sarkar of Takahut village in Kalai upazila and Nur Aftab, 42, son of Abdus Sattar of Jaipur-Bahuti village.
Superintendent of Police Mashum Ahmed Bhoona told reporters at the press conference that the arrested brokers had been forcing the innocent, indebted and destitute poor women and men of Naogaon, Gaibandha and Dinajpur areas including Joypurhat district to sell their kidneys for a long time.
At the risk of their lives, these innocent people were caught by the brokers and then sold their valuable kidneys for Rs. When they go to different countries including India and Dubai and return home with nominal treatment with their kidneys, the brokers hand them over at the airport with Rs. Kidney donors sell their organs and spend their lives at risk, but these brokers are making a profit. Again, these kidney donors are being deceived by selling their own kidneys and becoming new brokers.
The brokers were arrested on the basis of information technology and intelligence information.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Farzana Hossain, Sadar Circle Mosfequr Rahman, Panchbibi Circle Ishtiaq Alam and other police officials were present at the press conference.
