Police have arrested a woman drug dealer with 8 kg of cannabis from Berakhai area of Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat. The incident took place on Saturday evening.
Detained Meherchan (45) is the wife of late Abdul Malek of Harinathpur village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur.
Panchbibi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Palash Chandra Dev said the arrested Meherchan had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time.
Meherchan was arrested along with a large quantity of cannabis from the spot by the accompanying force led by SI Anis-2 after receiving a tip-off that drugs were being sold in Berakhai area.
The OC also said that he was sent to jail through the court around 11:30 am on Sunday.
