BSF has returned Bangladeshi detainees from the zero line of Maidam border in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram.

On the afternoon of June 4 (Saturday), a Bangladeshi named Kamal Sheikh (40) was detained by a BSF patrol team at Dighaltari camp in India on his way back from a Bangladeshi house located at the zero line of Maidam border in Pathardubi union of the upazila.
The detainee was identified as Kamal Sheikh, son of Abul Hossain of Dakshin Banshjani village under Pathardubi union of the upazila.

Citing the BGB Maidan BOP camp, Pathardubi UP Chairman Abdus Sabur said that members of the 129 BSF Dighaltari camp of Dinhata police station in West Bengal’s Kochbihar district abducted a Bangladeshi named Kamal Hossain from the zero line of 8 sub-pillars of International Border Pillar 96 on Saturday afternoon. Later, a message was sent to the BSF by the BGB to bring back the Bangladeshi who was in the custody of the BSF. On Saturday night, the BSF handed over Kamal Sheikh to the BGB at the BGB-BSF level International Boundary Pillar 965/6S and 8/12. The BGB handed over Kamal Hossain to Bhurungamari police station around 12:30 pm.

Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the incident and said that the accused was sent to Kurigram Court on Sunday after being detained under Section 11 (1) A of the Bangladesh Passport Order 1973.
